History
Brief History of Character:
Meaghan McCormack was born on August 2, 1975 to Catriona McCormack and Michael. Her mother was a famous Quidditch chaser in the '60s for the Pride of Portree. Her brother Kirley Duke was four years older than her having been born in 1971. Meaghan and her brother got along just as well as any siblings in their younger years, only slightly getting better when Kirley went to Hogwarts and Meaghan finally followed him in 1985. Her family was strong on pride of who they were, purebloods and the mother a well-respected Quidditch Chaser. It was easy for Meaghan to pick up on the attitude of the household and believe in purity of wizarding blood. Never did any of her family go overboard with the idea, but they kept their pride and views to themselves and who they socialized with that they trusted which luckily the world told them was okay. They kept inside the magical world, only venturing in the muggle world when they had to.
As expected during Meaghan's years at school, she did well. She also found her own love for Quidditch even after her mother tried to instill a love for it in her when she was little. It was no longer just watching the sport or her mother playing. It was something of her own once she was legally allowed to have a broom and learn to fly when in her first year at school when she was ten. Her mother, of course, encouraged her love of the sport every break as well as during the year, giving her daughter the best broom when she was allowed and trying to teach her all the inner workings and tricks to the game so that she could follow in her chaser mother's footsteps after graduating. Meaghan may have felt the pressure of being a good Chaser, but found herself more drawn toward being a Keeper which her fast reflexes made her excel in.
Being on the Slytherin house Quidditch team from her second year (1986) to her last year (1992), she found other subjects in school she loved. Divination drew her in with promises of things untold and unknown, but she had no real natural talent in it. When she wasn't on the pitch, she was often musing over some Divination work. She did well at Dark Arts as well. During her school years, Meaghan had many friends but all that she could be certain were pureblood. Her view on blood purity was well known and not just through her house but all the other houses. She was quick to dismiss or get in a verbal argument with those she disliked, not holding anything back and gaining a reputation for being outspoken in her meanness while a lot of the other girls tried to be sly. Meaghan was who she was and she didn't care who liked her and didn't like her which lead to more people disliking her. In the end, when she graduated in 1992, it was no surprise that she gained a position on her mother's old team of the Pride of Portree.
On the Pride of Portree, she played Keeper. In her mind, her purity of blood made her strong and that was all she needed. Of course, she never intentionally socialized with anyone who was not pureblood, creating excuses to get out of things as well as just not going for no reason. She didn't want their views and blood to taint her, to make her anything but the proud pureblood witch she was. When she was 21, after being pro for four years, Meaghan discovered she was pregnant and had no idea who the father was. She didn't have a steady boyfriend and slept with anyone who she found attractive. Not surprisingly, a lot of guys wanted her and were willing to give her want she wanted. Immediately, knowing that Quidditch could be dangerous for pregnancy and the baby, Meaghan took a leave of absence of the time, intent on coming back after she was cleared after she gave birth. The news of her absence was at first buried and then finally, six months along and unable to hide it any longer, she told the world. She had her daughter on July 29, 1997 whom she named Magdalena "Lena" McCormack. She returned to her Quidditch team two months later when the healers' cleared her. She and Lena live back and forth between her townhouse in London and her flat on Island of Skye.
