Personality
Detailed Personality
Like most people, Meaghan isn't as straightforward as people would like other people to be. It's just not that easy. She was raised with her brother in the limelight which they both decided to embrace in their adult lives as well. That said more for her personality and who she is than she cares to admit. Meaghan is snarky, cold, sarcastic, and yet polite. Fake pouts, rolling her eyes, heavy sighs, and raising her eyebrows are just a few of the dramatic gestures she employs in her every day conversations. Labeled a "drama queen" since she was little, she just goes with it. Life is more interesting to her with drama. Whether subconsciously or consciously, she creates drama where she goes. Rumors are not new to her and she likes to play up the false ones as much as she can to get reactions from people (honestly, it's how people can tell if a rumor is true or not. If she's feeding into it, it's either a lie or far enough away from the truth that she doesn't care what people think. If it's true, she normally downplays but still in a Meaghan-like way).
Despite her drama-loving attitude, Meaghan isn't always dramatic. She knows how to be serious and she's a polite person. Raised as she was, she was taught common courtesy, politeness, and manners from the start. She knows exactly how to act in almost any situation, but it's about who she chooses to act in the moment that matters. At times when she has her moments without dramatics, she surprises those who know her well. She's more prone to dramatics, teasing, and sarcasm than voicing exactly what's on her mind. Meaghan certainly has a mind of her own, but she tends to keep what she really feels close to the vest. In fact, Meaghan is truly opinionated even if not everyone would agree with her such as her idea that purebloods are a bit superior than halfbloods or muggleborns. It's not that she hates anyone but purebloods and feels the war was wrong on all levels, but she does have a superiority complex about herself.
Queen of flare, Meaghan tends not to have close friends. It's not that she doesn't have friends, because she does. It's that she chooses to keep everyone save a handful of people at arm's distance. She'll go have coffee, have a day of shopping, and hang out and such, but she tends not to have deep conversations with them either. The handful of people she lets in and loves with everything bit of loyalty and kindness in her are normally related to her by blood. She'd do anything for her parents and brother, feeling like they'd do anything from her, too. However, she's more prone to teasing and heckling her brother than anything serious. Yet, she's always caught in the front row at concerts, singing every word to every song, and cheering Duke and the band on like there's no tomorrow.
Other than her family, she has two real passions in her life. Quidditch is her life with a close second of Divination. To her disappointment, she isn't an actual Seer. Her mother, Catriona, was the Chaser for the Pride of Portree for years and immediately indoctrinated both of her children with the sport immediately. Meaghan doesn't remember not having a toy broom or not knowing how to fly. It was a family activity for them even though her father, Michael was far less skilled in the area. Immediately, her mother saw Meaghan's knack and natural ability and skill. She taught Meaghan to take pride in it and hone it. Quickly, Quidditch became Meaghan's love. When she went to Hogwarts in her third year, the elective Divination started to pique Meaghan's interest. While it was unfortunately that Meaghan hadn't inherited any unforeseen or special skill in that area, she still loved it. She collected crystal balls, had her own prized and honored Tarot card set, and fed into the love of incenses. Collecting books and texts on Divination, she knew she couldn't become a Seer with practice, but it was good enough for her.
First Impression: Meaghan holds herself for pride for who she is. Her graceful stride and confidence way of speaking leads must to think she's just a confident woman; whether she is friendly, hostile, or bored depends on the person who she's talking to.
Likes: her family, Quidditch, Divination, Pride of Portree, Island of Skye, London, parties, alcohol, flying, trashy romance novels (must be trashy; who wants to read something trying to be deep?), pop music, smoothies, winning, success, money, sarcasm, ect.
Dislikes: losing, idiots, being broke (not that she ever has been), being bored/still, cleaning, cooking, snakes, spiders, cigarettes, injuries, "deep" books/the classics, ect.
Boggart: herself unable to play Quidditch
Mirror of Erised: Herself as the Captain of the Pride of Potree, holding the World Cup

History
Father: Michael McCormack (pureblood)
Mother: Catriona McCormack (pureblood, former/retired Chaser for the Pride of Portree)
Siblings: Kirely Duke, 31 - 32 (b. 1971)
Children: N/A
Pets: owl named Morgana
Detailed History:
Catriona Duke was the famous chaser for the Pride of Portree between 1958 and 1970 after she graduated from Hogwarts (Ravenclaw House) in 1958. In 1961, she met Michael McCormack who was working at the wizarding bank, Gringotts in Diagon Alley in London. They dated for three years with her Quidditch career taking off and practically making her a sports star in the wizarding world. In 1965, they married on the Island of Skye and for five years she continued to play professionally until she found out she was pregnant in 1970 and retired. Their first son, Kirley was born in 1971 to the happy couple.
On August 2, 1973, Meaghan was born. Of course the family loved the new addition, even Kirley though he'd probably have to be pressed to admit it. The siblings got along well enough. Catriona indoctrinated both Kirely and Meaghan into the world of flying and Quidditch before either of them even went to Hogwarts. Both Catriona and Michael were pureblood which they were quite proud of. It wasn't something that they hid or something they shied away from to instill pride in their children of their pure lineage. Meaghan easily picked up on the attitude, becoming a bit of a blood elitist. As a child, she was happy enough to associate with anyone who came her way, but as she grew older, she became quite picky. In her mind, she was better than those who were not of pureblood. She wasn't cruel, mean, or hard about it, but she didn't think that giving away her time to someone who wasn't worth it was a good idea.
Her brother went to Hogwarts before her, but Meaghan soon joined him in 1983, sorted into Slytherin. She had expected to like Hogwarts, but there was a certain bit of homesickness that came with it at first. She wanted to be with her older brother, who she knew, but quickly drifted away from him and into her own friends and social life there. The first wizarding world just barely ended when she got to the school, leaving her opinions on blood status to be the unpopular one. She was so happy during her first year to be able to own her own broom and officially learn to fly. Of course, she already knew how and played Quidditch on her own before she entered school. During all her breaks, her mother encouraged Meaghan's love of flying and Quidditch.
Being on the Slytherin House Quidditch team from her second year (1984) to her seventh year (1990), she had natural talent in the sport which just was honed and nurtured in her breaks and off time as well by her mother. It was easy to see that her mind was set on trying to follow her mother's footsteps in the Quidditch world. With the best broom the market had to offer even in Hogwarts, Meaghan excelled in Quidditch, but she also did amazing in her classes. When choosing her third year electives, she chose Divination as mostly a joke at first with a few of the friends in her year. To her amazement, she immediately and full-heartedly fell in love with Divination. It was more than clear she wasn't a Seer naturally, but she was enthralled. She took to crystal balls, reading tea leaves, incenses, Tarot cards, and other things in Divination in her past time. Despite how some think that Divination is a joke, Meaghan didn't hide her new found love in it. She even shared it with her mother, who scoffed only the first time, and then with her family, encouraged her. They wanted to encourage their children in all their interests no matter what they personally thought of it. In school, she easily got "E" and "O" on all her OWLs and even high marks on her NEWTs upon graduation.
In school, Meaghan was quick to hang out with those who she thought were fitting to her. She didn't outwardly not associate with anyone but purebloods, but it was clear who she favored. Despite associating with purebloods and still being rather popular with her Quidditch talent and outspoken and dramatic nature, she only had a handful of people whom she called friends. Her dramatic personally through her in the gossip limelight which she only encouraged with her antics. She quickly got a reputation for being loud, mean at times, and entitled though most of her meanness lacked cruelty and almost never went for the jugular. Her sarcasm was never ignored either, making her a hard one to get to know even if someone wanted to try. She never shied away from being disliked or reputation. In fact, some would say she encouraged it all.
When she graduated in 1990, she gained a position on the Pride of Portree, her mother's former team. She was Keeper as she'd always loved. She took pride in both the position, the team, and the family history surrounding her new career. Quickly, she rose up from being reserve to being the full-time Keeper. She relished in her career, what it gave her, and everything that came from it. But it was easy to see why Quidditch players chose to retire rather than being kicked out instead. Currently, after being pro for 13 years, she's trying to figure out what to do after her career is over.
